Fiery lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana has thrown his support for the institution of a state of emergency in the three northern states, Adamawa, Yobe and Borno, by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The declaration of a state of emergency, according to the FG will enable security forces face the campaign of terrorism led by militant Islamic group, Haram.

In his reaction to the declaration by the president, Falana said, “All political parties should work with the government to ensure that we reclaim our country from terrorists, kidnappers and other wild criminals.”

“What is the alternative? Those who are opposed to [state of] emergency must bring out concrete solutions… concrete suggestions on how we can contain violence in the country,” he said.

The opposition Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) have kicked against the emergency procedure saying it negates the fundamental principles of democracy.
