LSE Africa Summit 2016 announce key participants

The London School of Economics and Political Science today announced key panel participants for its third annual Africa Summit to take place on April 22 and 23, 2016. The Summit, themed “Africa within a Global Context,” will feature an interdisciplinary research conference and a transnational business conference focused on economic development in the African continent. The Summit is proud to announce that Dr. Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Africa will provide the key note remarks.

As Vice Chair the High Level Panel on Illicit Financial Flows, Dr. Carlos Lopes will also be participating in the panel on Law and Illicit Financial Flows along with Dr. Leonce Ndikumana of the University of Massachusetts- Amherst, the Rev. Suzanne Matale of the Independent Commission on the Reform of International Corporate Taxation, and Dr. Thomas Pogge of Harvard University. This panel will be chaired by Prof. Alex Cobham, Director of Research at Tax Justice Network

“The importance of challenging conventions requires thorough research to understand and define key issues as well as to develop constructive ideas and advance policy making,” said Research Conference Co-Director Nejat Abdella.

“Challenging traditional thinking and unpacking the complexity of illicit financial flows has allowed us to present Africa as a resource rich continent and a net creditor to the rest of the world.”

The summit, themed Africa within a Global Context will feature a research and business conference and will be held at the London School of Economics, London, UK
on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23
