Game of thrones: Sheriff, Makarfi, youths fight for soul of PDP

There’s no end in sight for the crisis currently rocking the Peoples Democratic Party as the former National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff’s supporters once again stormed the party secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, June 15.

While this ensued, the leader of a group called PDP Youths Rescue Group, Aderemi Olusegun, on Wednesday, announced himself as the new Acting National Chairman of the former ruling party.

Speaking to his supporters in front of the PDP secretariat, Olusegun said, “In view of all that have been happening in this party, I, hereby, declare myself as Acting Chairman of PDP.”

But before Sheriff, Olusegun and his band of protesters arrived at the PDP headquarters to protest – supporters of the new chairman of the National Caretaker Committee, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, were at the secretariat as early as 8:27am.

Despite the rain, Makarfi’s supporters arrived the venue with placards, calling Sheriff an agent of APC and rejecting him as the party chairman.

Shortly after Makarfi supporters left, supporters of Sheriff arrived with placards calling on the embattled national chairman to be allowed into office.

At about 12pm, another set of Makarfi supporters arrived to protest against Sheriff.

Finally, Sheriff’s supporters broke into the PDP national secretariat at about 5:27pm.

The Game of Thrones ensues…
