Man arrested in Lagos with items suspected to be explosives

We seem to be hearing more and more of these suspicious packages intercepted in Lagos lately. A man has been arrested at Orile Bus Stop in Lagos while carrying items which witnesses suspect was a bomb.

The man who was identified as Lawal was reported to have joined members of the Living Faith Church who were going to the church’s Sango Ota, Ogun State headquarters for a program.

Witnesses say the suspect was not properly dressed and acted strangely which drew instant attention to him.

One of the witnesses said: “He was looking shabby but when scrutinised closely, we discovered he had some taped substances with a taped mobile phone on his hand. We became suspicious because wire was attached to the substance and it looked carefully sealed.”

Mr. Foluso Adebanjo, the commissioner of Police in charge of the bomb disposal unit, confirmed the arrest saying, “A man was arrested and we are still interrogating him and cannot say whether what was found on him are explosives or not for now.”

According to The Nation Newspapers,  a source at the Orile Police Station confirmed that the suspect was in possession of gadgets, including a cell phone connected with a wire attached to the substance and carefully sealed and taped. The Police source said the suspect also had an extra phone that was equally taped.
