A 63-year-old man, Ubale Saudi Dutsa has been sentenced to death by stoning by an Upper Sharia Court sitting in Nomansland, Sabon Gari area of Kano after raping a 12-year-old girl.

The Sharia Court Judge, Farouk Ahmad said he relied on the law guided by the Holy Quoran in sentencing the rapist to death.

In an unfortunate twist, the victim was said to have tested positive for HIV/AIDS when examined by the state-owned Murtala Muhammed Hospital. This was as a result of forceful intercourse by the convict.

Dutsa was said to have pleaded seven times before the decision was made by the presiding judge.

The convict  was brought to the court on the charge of raping  Shamsiyya, the victim, from a small town of the state called Gezawa town.
