An alligator hunter on only his second outing in Arkansas is celebrating his success at snaring a mammoth 1,100 pound, beast nearly 14-feet long last week.

Little Rock resident, Drew Baker, shot the humungous reptile with a harpoon and then fought the rampaging animal for almost an hour before settling the battle by shooting the alligator in the head.

So pleased was Baker at his incredible catch that he managed to get most of his family to pose in pictures with the enormous alligator – which is the largest ever caught in the state of Arkansas.

‘It’s not a good attitude for a hunter to go out expecting not to get one,’ Baker told KTHV about his 13-feet 9 inch beast. ‘But they’re really tough to get up on.’

‘Honestly I thought I don’t know what I’m going to do with this thing now that I have him.’

Baker told CNN that he will expect to get around 400 pounds of meat to eat from the alligator and will donate the head to a museum in Arkansas.

‘This one being as big as he is, he just thought he was the king of the lake anyway. He wasn’t going to be afraid of anybody,’ Baker said looking back to the moment he saw it.

‘All I could think about is Phil Mickelson and how he talks about trying to control his breathing.’
