“I am still in the Police Force” | Joseph Mbu returns

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Joseph Mbu, has assumed office as Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos, in Plateau State, contrary to speculations that he has been dismissed from the force.
Speaking during an interview after his resumption, Mbu said, “I am still in the Police Force and I was not posted to Jos on a punishment.

“I was posted to Jos to come and transform the college. I did not resume early because I was on leave.  I am still a serving police officer and I love my job; I do my job like a professional and while working, I do not know wife, brother or friend. I am proud to be a Police officer.

“This college is the highest police training institution in the country and it is a privilege to be posted here.

“Let me tell you that the Inspector General of Police has promised that training of officers will be a priority. And the IGP wanted to send one of his finest officers to the college so that the college can be transformed is such a way to be able to serve the training need of police officer in the country.

“That is the main reason I was posted to the college. So my posting was not a punishment as my detractors intend to portray.

“Some said I have been forcefully retired, while some said I have been demoted. Some even said my posting to Jos was a punishment.

“These are the wishes of my detractors, as far as I’m concern. I am a professional police officer, ready to serve anywhere I am posted posted to and I will deploy my professional training to make a mark at my duty post.”
