Melania’s ratings trump Donald’s

First Lady, Melania Trump’s approval ratings appear to be better than her husband’s.

According to a newly released CNN/ORC poll, Americans seem to be rating the US first lady higher than her husband, President Donald Trump. Her approval rating currently stands at 52 percent, an increase from the 36 percent before the inauguration of her husband as the President of the United States.

A further look into the poll reveals that the ratings fall along party lines as 86% of Republicans have a favorable view of the First Lady while about 22% of Democrats have the same feeling. One gets another perspective when we compare her approval ratings with that of former First Lady, Michelle Obama. In April 2009, Michelle Obama had a favorable rating of 93% among Democrats and 50% among Republicans.

Interestingly, men have a more favorable view of the First Lady than women. About 58 percent of men have a favorable view about her compared to 46 percent of women who have the same view.

Some critics have also expressed that the approval ratings does not say much about her considering the fact that she has not been making a lot of public appearances since her husband became the President. Hence, it is difficult to judge her ideologies and her exact actions as first lady, all of which play a major role in how she is viewed.

President’s Trump approval rating currently stands at 43% according to Gallup.
