Ministerial portfolios: What’s the hold up? – The Senate

While President Muhammadu Buhari can’t be absolved of blame in the seemingly unending wait for the composition of his cabinet, the National Assembly is responsible for the recent delay.

The Presidency claims to have not yet received feedback from the Senate regarding the confirmation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees.

Hence, the delay in the inauguration of the new Federal Executive Council.

Apart from the announcement of confirmation, the Senate is by tradition, expected to send an official confirmation to the Presidency.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, revealed to Punch.

“The communication cannot be done until when the senators in plenary approve the votes and proceedings of the decision taken at the last week’s sitting of the Senate.”

Meanwhile, social media and the blogosphere has been awash with reports of the speculated ministerial list.

Although the Presidency has since distanced itself from the list, that hasn’t stopped it from being disseminated by all and sundry.
