Missing crude: Court strikes out objection against FG’s suit

A preliminary objection filed by Brasoil Oil Services Company Nigerian Limited against the Federal Government of Nigeria was on Monday struck out by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

The preliminary order was filed following a suit instituted by the Federal Government against notable multinational oil corporations.

The order sought to strike out the Federal Government suit on the grounds that the FG has failed to disclose a reasonable cause of action against the defendant.

Professor Fabian Ajoku, leading counsel to the Federal Government filed a counter affidavit praying the court to discountenance the prayers of Brasoil and hold that there exists a right and a reasonable cause of action against the defendant.

The court ruled that the defendant had a case to answer considering all the documents filed by FG.
