It’s all about money: PDP lawmakers will only support GEJ on these conditions…

by James Sambo

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers in the Federal House of Representatives have tabled some demands to President Goodluck Jonathan as conditions for supporting him ahead of the March 28 presidential elections.

We had reported that the lawmakers, which consisted of those running for re-election and those who failed to win their primaries,- had met with the president at the presidential villa in Abuja, last weekend.

According to Vanguard Newspapers, not less than 104 PDP lawmakers were present a meeting, where they aired their grievances and frustrations with the party and its leaders at the state and national levels before President Jonathan.

One of the demands of the lawmakers is the immediate refund of the campaign funds spent by the members who were denied tickets by their state governors, after paying for the party tickets.

The aggrieved lawmakers claimed that the acrimonious primaries were manipulated by state governors and top party leaders, who imposed their candidates on the party.

The lawmakers also stated that the president should instruct the rulingthe party to foot the bill of their campaign, while also advising him against disbursing the funds through the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, or their state governors.

President Jonathan was implored to make the funds directly available to the lawmakers contesting election on the same day with him.
