Hamza Ali is feared dead after his mother’s boyfriend, Ummad Rushdi, took the boy, police said.

A central Pennsylvania man admitted killing his girlfriend’s 7-month-old son, shaking the crying boy to death before he hid the body, according to a search warrant affidavit.

Ummad Rushdi, 30, currently faces kidnapping charges as cops continue to search for little Hamza Ali’s corpse.

Police say Rushdi and Hamza’s mother, 20-year-old Zainab Gaal, were together on Sunday in the Philadelphia suburb of Upper Darby when he abruptly left early in the morning, taking the child with him. The couple had dated for about a month.

Ummad Rushdi was arrested Wednesday, charged with kidnapping 7-month-old Hamza Ali, who police now believe is dead.

Police suspect Rushdi buried the boy somewhere along his route home to York, Pa.

Rushdi, who was convicted in 2012 of making terroristic threats, confessed on Monday to Jawwad Rushdi he had killed the boy, according to the affidavit obtained by the York Daily Record. Rushdi said he shook the baby, and then tried and failed to revive him. He buried Hamza’s body, but never told Jawwad Rushdi where, the affidavit said.
Ummad Rushdi confessed to a relative he shook baby Hamza Ali to death, because the child was crying, according to police.

Police did release a photo of Hamza on the off chance he was still alive, but they’ve made it clear they consider that unlikely.

“Our investigation indicates he probably killed the baby and buried the baby in a field in York (County) … We’ve got cadaver dogs coming in from the state police and the FBI, and we’re trying to find the baby’s body based on the information we have that led to the arrest of Rushdi,” Upper Darby Township Police Supt. Michael Chitwood told the York Daily Record.

Police have focused their search for 7-month-old Hamza Ali’s body on the land near the home of his mother’s boyfriend, 30-year-old Ummad Rushdi in York County, Pa.
