A woman in Lagos has asked a court to end her marriage as she claimed that she did not feel safe with her husband.

Caroline Omoseebi, told the Customary Court sitting in the Alakuko area of the state that her husband, Ayemisan was intent on using her for rituals and that she had only barely escaped with her life.

The couple, who have been married 44 years started having problems when Ayemisan became determined to get rich by all means.

According to the wife, her husband took her pants to a herbalist in pursuit of the money ritual and also joined a secret cult.

Caroline said they got married 44 years ago, and have seven grown up children. She said they lived in harmony until some years ago when their relationship went sour.“He said he wanted to be rich at all costs.

“That is the reason he joined a secret cult. He actually took my pants to a herbalist in his attempt to get rich quick”, the petitioner told the court.

In his defence, the husband said there was no trouble between him and the wife until she joined a club of bad friends and became uncontrollable. The respondent said he was not ready for divorce and pledged to change his character.

The court president, Mr. Godwin Awosola, said the court could not force Ayemisan on the wife and, while adjourning the case, warned the couple to maintain peace.
