Name and shame: Lagos promises to embarrass poster offenders

by Isi Esene

The Lagos State Government yesterday warned organisations who persistently paste posters in inappropriate areas of the state to desist from the practice or be punished.

The government’s position was announced by the chief executive officer of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), Mr. George Noah, who warned erring organisations or institutions that the agency will soon embark on an exercise to name-and-shame any organisation found wanting.

“We are ready to name and shame erring offenders because they have shown no remorse,” he said.

According to the Premium Times, he stated that the agency is ready with a list of serial offenders which it intends to make public at the appropriate time.

He said the agency rolled out an awareness campaign last month to sensitize the public against defacing Lagos, a campaign which he said achieved considerable success, but insisted that it is time to “take it to another level”.

He concluded by reiterating that the government is ready to deploy every resource in its disposal to rid the state of indiscriminate pasting of posters.
