Naomi Lucas: Lessons for the reluctant entrepreneur (30 Days of Gratitude)

Because you see, I understand where you are; what you’re dealing with. How you keep second-guessing yourself and wondering if you should go back to paid employment where it’s safe and predictable.

I wish I could tell you there’s a capsule you can swallow to recalibrate your philosophy. I wish there was a way to help you forecast the next few months or years so your heart can be at peace but you know as well as I do that there isn’t.

So, I’ll tell you how I got here – This place where I’m learning not to worry; where  the perfectionist in me is slowly beginning to realize that try as I may, I can’t control everything and even if I can, I shouldn’t.

Me, myself and I met and decided that in the grand scheme of things, there should be room for failure, and fear and doubt should never be a strong enough reason to stop moving.

So, with my heart in my mouth, I took one wobbly step after another and ever so gently, I found my rhythm. Every time I felt the pangs of fear claw at my insides, I got up and moved. Because of it. Inspite of it.

One whole year after, I look back and I’m grinning like, “Oh wow…”
