New Governor of Adamawa dissolves executive council and sacks political appointees

by James Sambo

Newly sworn-in Governor of Adamawa state, Bala Ngilari has with immediate effect, dissolved the state executive council and also sacked all political appointees.

The removed political appointees, who were appointed by the former acting governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, had spent less than three months in office.

The information was disseminated via a statement by his Chief of staff, Chubado Tijani, saying that all the affected office holders should return all documents and government properties in their possession to permanent secretaries in their respective ministries.

The heads of statutory commissions were, however, unaffected by the council dissolution.

Fintiri was sacked from office by a Federal high court in Abuja, on Wednesday, 10 October, and an order was given that Ngilari be immediately sworn in as governor of Adamawa.
