Niger Delta Avengers: Amnesty boss meets with ex-militants (PHOTOS)

As the spate of violence in the Niger Delta region continue to increase, the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and the Coordinator of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General (Rtd) P.T. Boroh, on Saturday, held a meeting with ex militants leaders in the region.

The meeting, which was held in Benin City, Edo state, was attended by Amnesty Programme beneficiaries, Phase 1, 2 and 3.

The meeting was aimed at discussing solutions, recommendations and observations in the Niger Dalta Amnesty programme

Speaking at the event, Boroh stated that the programme will only be successful if converted militants are disarmed, rehabilitated, reintegrated and empowered.

The ex militants also spoke expressed their grievances, noting the lateness of their monthly allowance while reaffirming the belief that the region is being neglected.

They, however, praised the Amnesty boss for the way the programme is now managed.

Responding to their complaints, Boroh promised to look into their grievances and work on them, saying “I am not a politician, so believe my words; all your complaints will be addressed.”

It was, however, not stated if members of the Niger Delta Avengers were represented in the meeting.
