570,174 Nigerians apply to join Police

Not less than 570,174 candidates have applied for enlistment – in the ongoing recruitment exercise by the Nigeria Police Force.

The exercise which commenced about two weeks ago, has attracted an unprecedented number of applicants, largely as a result of the problem of widespread unemployment and hard economic times.

The huge traffic recorded, crashed the website of the Police Force a few hours after the portal opened up for registration.

According to the Head, Press and Public Relations, Police Service Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, 161,118 candidates have applied as Cadet ASPs, 140,458 as Inspectors and 268,598 as Constables as at Wednesday, April 13.

Ani was quoted to have said: “As of Wednesday morning, we have 570,174 applications with candidates for Police Constables having the highest numbers at 268,598, followed by Cadet ASP candidates at 161,118 and 140,458 applications for Inspector.”
