A Nigerian has been handed a death sentence for attempting to smuggle drugs into Malaysia.

The man, 35-year-old Abuchi Ngwoke was sentenced to death on Tuesday, 25 November, by a Malaysian High Court for trafficking drugs into the country.

Ngokwe was arrested in 2012 at a Malaysian airport after being caught with 251.66 grams of methamphetamine, which he supposedly ingested in Nigeria prior to getting on the flight to Malaysia.

Although the sentencing has been done, the date of execution is yet to be communicated.
