Opinion: The madness of Nigerian governors; a case study of Mimiko

by Gbenga Adene

Ojo Oladimeji will agree with me that I’ve given up on arguing anything related to Nigeria/politics because “I cannot come and go and die” but someone I respect so much made me write this after a lengthy phone conversation about this country..I really think Aregbesola and Fayose needs to see a psychiatrist; if not, imagine both Governors constructing airport!

When workers are still been owed salaries. Aregbesola changing student school uniforms to that of babalawo! Can any sane man do that? How is that affecting Osun’s state economy?

Oshiomole too, to increase workers salaries; another political strategy that will backfire on Godwin Obaseki! Though of all the mad Governors in Nigeria at the moment, the madness of Aregbesola, Fayose and Mimiko is first class, but I will focus on that of my state governor because I know little about my state than any other. Though Ajimobi’s is yet to “enter market” but his rehearsing through the privatization of public secondary school..

The standard for judging any laudable project by any administration is if such project is available to the masses for free or at the lowest fee. I applaud Mimiko for Everything! He even said, he will know us by our names and he did through Kaadi Igbeayo (resident card)..

1. Now my constructive criticism; I will start from doom (I mean dome). What’s the direct positive effect on the masses? Where is Barr. Remigius Akinbinu to answer that? And please don’t tell me monthly praise night! And billions of naira as been wasted on the construction, we all knows it’s a means to cabalnize!.

2. Mimiko did not say he met empty treasury, information has it that he met 38 billion naira or more. So, that plus all the allocation he has been collecting from Federal government and other bodies of the world, what is his excuse for not paying salaries? Some people even said he borrowed money, for which project please?.

3. When he went to Chatham house to lecture “dem Oyinbos” and people like Egbon Jesse Kay Esho were applauding him for his brilliancy and oratorical skills, I’m like “Who your Book help?” This people are only good on paper but they lack common sense. The number one priority of a civil servant state should be civil servants salaries but too much of degrees as downturn the medulla oblongata of most of them. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan “no be PhD holder?” Does it look like he has common sense? An educational degree is not common sense!.

4. Its people like Remiguis Akinbinu, Ayo Oged, Tunde Bibi Aladenola, Sam Akinwale, Isijola Kike that can afford the trauma center in Ondo! That’s another unreasonable project that guff a lot of money which gave room for cabalnizing too. They still refer people to Ife and Ibadan despite the over-hyped trauma centre!.

5. I don’t want to talk much, so, lastly; Does Ondo State need that Medical University in Ondo? If any of you say Yes, God will punish you with cancer and leprosy at the same time! Amen! Ondo State government is media friendly! They won award that AAUA is the best State university, that RUGIPO is the best state polytechnic, that OSUTECT is the best, even the Medical University in Ondo award as already been bought at a price but the media fail to give Ondo State award for best in wastage!

Where is that tomato factory located again please?.

6. Some Governors in this country are exclusively mad! They lack Common sense!.

Finally! This generation is doom already! I will encourage the rest of us that still have conscience to flush out the corrupt mentality of Nigerians from the mind of our kids. That’s the only way this country can be better!. God help me not to talk about Nigeria/politics again for a while…

Gbenga Adene is not a card holder of any political party but the truth be said. What as Mimiko done with our Money? Edo, Lagos, Delta, Ebonyi, Anambra, Cross river, Akwa ibom, Kano and Enugu States get two head “wey dem take dey pay salary”?
