Nigerian teenager files N500 million suit against EgyptAir

More troubles ahead for EygptAir as a Nigerian teenager, Joshua Adekunle-AbdulAzeez, has filed a N500 million law suit against the airline.

The airline has been in the eye of the storm following the unfortunate crash of its flight MS804 on Thursday, with 56 passengers and 10 crew members on board the plane.

According to Vanguard, Joshua is a 17-year-old Nigerian medical student studying at the Dnepropetrovsk Medical Academy, Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.

In his suit, filed through his mother Favour Anire-Gbenebichie at a Federal High Court, the plaintiff said that he was wrongly routed to Moldova instead of Ukraine.

Joshua is praying the court to award him N500 million as general damages; the sum of N373,891 as special damages, being the cost of the full economy return ticket; 790 euros as special damages, being the cost of a one-way economy ticket from Istanbul to Kiev which he was forced to buy after he was deported from Turkey to Moldova; the sum of 160,341 Indian rupees as special damages being the cost of the electronic devices damaged during his four day ordeal.

He is also asking for $1,721.74 as special damages for properties lost or damages and the claimant’s counsel’s legal fees.

The case was adjourned to June 27 and July 4.
