Hundreds of young Nigerians in Port Harcourt trooped out in their numbers to compete for a chance to win the $100,000.00 (One hundred thousand naira) prize money for winning the Season II of the Nigeria Idols reality TV show yesterday.

With registration still open at the venue, more of that number is expected today the second day of auditions as lead sponsor; Etisalat is set to stage a free concert for the eager young people to get a taste of the stardom and the energy they aspire for. Billed to perform for the yearning young crowd include A-list showstoppers in music like rapper Nigga Raw and DJ Zeez!

“this is the real deal,” says music legend and a member of the panel of judges; Charly Boy. “And you can understand why; I am particularly excited about the talents we have been meeting and the fact that they can identify this platform as the one that connects them to that global fame they are looking for. Aim here really is to ignite some dreams and we definitely have met some”

The Nigerian Idol audition train now in Port Harcourt for the last day at the Hotel Presidential will play host to the Nigerian Idol auditions on October  28 and 29 in Enugu before rolling down to Lagos for the final lap of the audition exercise.

Chichi Nwoko the project manager couldn’t believe the amount of enthusiastic youths in Portharcourt for the Idols audition. “Based on what I have saw here yesterday, I can’t imagine what will happen today the last day given the concert and in the coming days in Enugu and Lagos, but all I can say is that we are very ready for a deluge in Enugu and Lagos, she enthused. “The registrations are raining in, but that’s exactly what it’s about – the more talented young people enter the competition, the more we have a change to choose some of Nigeria’s best next stars to thrill the audience and the public over the next magical months of the show.”
