Doyin Okupe, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs has said the reaction of the opposition Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to the imposition of emergency rule by the federal government is regrettable.

According to reports, he said Nigerians will soon know who has their interest at heart.

On the troop deployment to restive states in the north, Okupe said the troop deployment will be the exclusive preserve of the Defense Headquarters.

According to him, the Defense Headquarters will also determine the number of troops to be deployed.

He also stated that the action of the President in quelling insurgency in the affected states should serve as a wake-up call to other states to be on the alert at all times in case there is invasion of the other states by terrorists or insurgents.

President Goodluck Jonathn on Monday declared a state of emergency is three states including Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe so as to combat the menace of Islamic insurgents, Boko Haram.
