by Doyin Jaiyesimi

Nike Osinowo is on a winning streak and not even the loss of the Miss Nigeria franchise can stop her. She recently landed a deal to organise the just concluded 53rd meeting of the Commission for Africa (CAF) summit which was hosted by Cross River state. Tourist ministers from African states who are affiliate members of the United Nation World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) gathered at Tinapa Lakeside Resort, Calabar to discuss issues pertaining to tourism in Africa. Ms Osinowo was responsible for coordinating the activities of the delegates and organising the summit itself. The event included seminars, banquets, a tour of Calabar among other activities which were planned for the delegates.  At the end of the 2-day summit, Ms Osinowo was paid N100m for all her efforts.

The Commission for Africa summit is a yearly meeting held by the UNWTO; an international organisation which “promotes tourism as a driver of economic growth.” Nigerian was chosen as the host of this year’s regional seminar in May 2012.
