Nine nabbed in Delta for making away with permanent voters’ cards

The police in Delta State have arrested nine persons for allegedly stealing about 1301 permanent voters’ cards meant for distribution in Ughelli South and Ethiope West local government areas of the state.

Those arrested include Bulless Mrikugbe, Raymond Justus Ese, Josiah Shetode and Felix Obokan. Five others whose names were not mentioned were said to be currently helping the police in investigation, just as efforts were being made to recover the stolen ‎cards.

Spokesperson for the police in Delta state, Celestina Kalu, said the crimes were committed at unit 17 and 18 of Jeremi, ward 2 in Oginibo, unit 12 at Ekakpamre ward in Ughelli South and unit six Erha-Abraka in Ethiope West local governments respectively.

She said that 503, 654 and 144 permanent voters’ cards were stolen from the wards in the two local government areas respectively.

According to Kalu, 1154 of the permanent voter’s cards stolen have so far been recovered except the 144 cards stolen at unit 6 Erho-Abraka in Ethiope West local government area.
