No ‘bow and go’: Oyo House of Assembly set to screen cabinet nominees

Following the dissolution of his cabinet in September of this year, the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has nominated 12 candidates to fill the vacant positions.

The governor reportedly sent the list of nominee commissioners to the state House of Assembly for confirmation yesterday.

The nominees are:

Barrister Adebayo Ojo, Mr. Dapo Lam -Adesina, Princess Adetutu Adeyemi Akhigbe , Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin and Mr. Zacheus Adelabu who were all on the previously dissolved cabinet and Professor S.O Olaniyan, Princess Olufunke Oworu, Prince Gbade Lana, Mr. Faruk Umar Alao, Mr. Adewale Lawrence Olujide, Mr. Abiodun Fatai Atanda and Mr. Deji Akande.

Leadership Newspaper reports:

The Speaker of the House, Honourable Monsurat Sunmonu read the list of the nominees while reading the message from the executive at the plenary sitting.

She assured that the lawmakers would peruse the credentials of the nominees, stating that there would be no ‘bow and go’.

According to her, the nominees are ordered to appear before the House for screening today (Wednesday) by 10:00am, adding that they are expected to come along with 40 copies of their credentials.

Also, the House has approved tenure extension of six months for the 33 Transition Committee Chairmen in the 33 Local government Areas of the state.

The extension followed a request sent to the House by Governor Ajimobi as the tenure of the 33 appointed council chairmen would have expired tomorrow.
