Singer cum aspiring politician, 9ice, has reacted to the diss he supposedly got from ex-wife, Toni Payne, regarding his political ambitions.

The 35-year-old singer, real name, Abolore Akande, is running for the Federal House of Representatives representing Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Orire Constituency.

His ex-wife and former artiste manager, Payne had recently tweeted a cryptic tweet which many felt was directed at 9ice.

She wrote, “Na wetin dem dey take chop una be dat. Know your candidates well before you waste your vote. Not just by what they promise. Check their track record. If Ramsey Nouah decides to run for governor today you will still see people rally for him because he is popular without knowing his full agenda.”

In a recent interview with Sunday Sun, 9ice was asked about his relationship with Payne, he said, “‎She’s nothing more than we have kid for each other.”

When prompted about what he thought of the tweet by his ex-wife and baby-mama, he responded saying, “If it is because of what I want to eat, so be it. Thank God I can drink my garri in the afternoon and eat beans at night without any stress. I can even drive my car to wherever I want to go. I can go to my friends’ houses to watch DStv, even if I don’t have it in my house, glory be to God. 1 Kings 19:7 says: and the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.”

9ice also stated that he was not going into politics for personal gain, but because of his interest in the welfare of the people.

“I don’t allow anything or anybody that might want to distract me in my journey, because the journey is too far. It’s not about what I want to eat but what I want to contribute to the development of my people,” he added.
