Irrespective of their political affiliation, the frontline runners for the race of Senate Presidency have agreed to work together and not to resort to blackmail, regardless of who emerges.
The leading candidates for the seat from the North East, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume and Senator Ahmad Lawan, have reportedly agreed to support each other after the contest.
Ndume, who is from Borno State and another contender, Senator Bukola Saraki, from Kwara State, North Central, have allegedly formed an alliance.
According to Vanguard newspapers, if eventually the APC decides not to stick to zoning the Senate presidency to the North Central, Ndume would most likely collaborate with other members of the camp known as The Like Minds to support Saraki.
Similarly, if the pendulum was to shift the other way, Ndume will also get full support from Saraki if the position is zoned to the North East.
Also, Ndume and Lawan are said to have entered into a pact not to do anything that will tarnish the image of each other.
Ndume confirmed the peace pact among the contestants to Vanguard newspapers, saying that senators had agreed not to wash their dirty linen in the open.
He reportedly stated that anybody that comes out victorious will be supported by other contenders, adding that he and Lawan are like brothers and will continue to be so despite their individual aspirations to become Senate President.
