We’re not shocked Arsenal decided to drop David Beckham’s son

by Mark Bassey

We might not be seeing another Beckham play in England any time soon.

According to reports in the UK press, David Beckham’s first son, Brooklyn, has been left disappointed in his attempts to secure a scholarship with Arsenal.

The 15-year-old, whose famous father played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, enrolled at the Gunners’ Hale End Academy, with the hopes of landing a two-year term to continue.

It is kind of surprising, especially after the teenager was called up into Arsenal’s Under 18 side earlier this month, but on the other hand, it is hardly a shock.

Football does not run in the Beckham’s family.

They are more of a fashion brand, with the stylish David and the designer Victoria at the top. The former England skipper played for some of the big European clubs, not because he was entirely a player that wowed, but more for the celebrity status that came with him.

Which is basically the real reason Sir Alex Ferguson shipped him out to Real Madrid, who are famous for their Galactico teams.

Maybe Brooklyn should start a fashion brand for teenagers. You cannot bet against it becoming the next big thing.
