Obanikoro, Muazu, others to be extradited back to Nigeria

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission has initiated legal procedures that will result in the extradition of past government officials who fled the country to avoid investigation into their corrupt dealings and possible criminal prosecution.

The commission is said to be collaborating with the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United Kingdom’s National Crimes Commission to ensure the return of the ex-officials to Nigeria.

According to Punch Newspapers, some of those currently under investigation for possible repatriation to Nigeria are: Musiliu Obanikoro, former Minister of State for Defence, and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu.

A source in the EFCC was quoted to have said that: “We are working with FBI and NCA and they are eager to assist us. I can assure you that those people will be brought back to Nigeria for interrogation.”
