This is what was discussed at the meeting between Obasanjo and Saraki

Earlier today, Friday, June 19, Senate President Bukola Saraki led some senators to meet with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his hilltop mansion, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The meeting between the politicians was said to have lasted a little over 2 hours.

A source privy to discussions at the meeting revealed to Premium Times that Saraki pleaded with Obasanjo to intercede and mend fences between him and President Muhammadu Buhari as well as his party, the All Progressives Congress.

Saraki was reported to have told Obasanjo that despite the fact that the party leaders have expressed their acceptance of his emergence, so far there has been “complete communication breakdown between him, the president and the party”.

Obasanjo was said to have promised Saraki that he would to do his best to “ensure communication between all parties”.

In another report by Punch Newspapers, after the meeting ended, Saraki reportedly said that the crisis in the APC was being addressed by the leadership of the party.

He would however, give the official line of ‘tapping from Obasanjo’s wisdom’ when asked what was discussed at the meeting.

He was quoted to have said: “As you can see, things are moving smoothly. Be rest assured that all that would be put behind us very shortly. We are very confident about that.”

“I am here with some of my colleagues to pay homage to him, to seek his advice, to get his blessing and also to consult. ‎We all know President Obasanjo’s value to this country and we are here to tap from his wisdom, knowledge and experience.”
