“Living he loved me,

    Dying he saved me,
Buried he carried my sins far away,
Rising he justified I am free forever,
    One day his coming,
O what a glorious day”  – Casting Crowns ‘Glorious day’

Every time I listen to and sing that song, I feel sad thinking about all Jesus had to go through to get me saved. He saved me from a life full of sin and sorrow, which ends in death. But then I also become full of joy because I know He has given me a clean start “all my sins washed away”, and now I get to live a life full of love, joy, hope and prosperity.
Also knowing He loved me first when I was full of sin,  makes me love him even more, and stirs me up to live a life worthy of His sacrifice – all the sufferings He went through because of me. I surrender all to Him, especially my so-called “best laid out plans” for life, and let him through the Holy Spirit guide me into his perfect will. And this arrangement is turning out to be a whole lot better and more fulfilling than the any plan I can ever have for myself.
Now how do I show my love for Christ? Jesus said: “if you love me you will keep my commandments”, and these include the ‘Great Commission’ to share the gospel to everyone (no secret Christianity allowed here), filling myself with the knowledge of his word so he abides in me and I in him (so I can bear fruits); and  to love my neighbor as I do myself (and I do love myself so very much).
The most exciting part though, is His second coming, when He comes to take me and other believers to heaven. When He’d tell us how proud he was of us, because we spent our lives serving him. He’d then shows us the place he has prepared for us(definitely not gonna miss NEPA or Lagos traffic), and we would also marvel at all the treasure we stored up in heaven (no tax). O what a glorious day.
Bible Reference
1 John 4:19 We love Him, because He first loved us.
1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.
