Onyew Bongos-Ikwue: Strains of insanity

Swirling
The thoughts in my head
Twirling
even on my bed
Sleepless
That’s what I am
A mess
Trying to remove all the spam
Depressed
so much in my head
You say I’m blessed
But I can’t even get ahead
So what’s next
If you ask me I’ll probably ignore
I’m between decks
Walking alone this I abhor
How to cope
I think of this but can’t comprehend
But is there hope
I’m thinking only if I amend
Try to attest
A testimony, free my mind
I’m so stressed
Can I try to unwind
Hang with a friend
Try to speak but I know he don’t hear
Is this the end
You think it is but be of good cheer
I clear my head
Now everything seems so bright
Lie on my bed
Sweet dreams oh this is so right
