Opinion: In God’s name, Mr. President leave peacefully and don’t cause further harm

by Ogundana Michael Rotimi

It is high time to put an end to your sitting in the Villa, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue. You have defiled every legal practice and broken every legal institution to please yourself and the selfish cronies that surround you. You have become the enemy of the government and of the people that sacrifice all for you in 2011.

By your practice of every vice, actions and utterances; you have divided the nation farther along religious lines and ethnic differences. Is there one vice you do not possess?

Like Esau, you have sold the country`s birth right as the giant of Africa for a plate of porridge. Like Judas, you have sold the country for a few pieces of money to the cabals. Like the prodigal son, you have squandered our savings, drained our reserves and destroyed our economy. I doubt if there is a single virtue now remaining in you!

You cannot transform the nation by pampering all sorts of abnormally, corrupt persons and practices. Kindly remember that Nigeria is not poor neither is your administration poor too. But your administration is badly managed and lacks accountability.

You accommodate all forms of illegality to get away with the many illegalities you perpetrate under your watch. You are more conscious of winning this election than in making us remain less divided. Or how do you justify the utterances of your wife`s speech against the Northerners?

By your immoral principles and wicked practices, you have grown into a desperate being in need of this electoral win by force. You are intolerable of due legal process and enjoy using all deceitful ways to get your selfish desires achieved.

But you know what; this election is neither about you nor about your oppositions. It`s about the safety and future of the nation. The decision the people have taken to vote you out is not borne out of hatred for you but for posterity case. Hence, kindly do not get it confused as an act of wickedness against you.

Meanwhile, after much tolerance and patience by the people, here comes another time for them to elect their leaders and choose those they want at the helm of affairs of the nation for the next four years. Once again the ball is their court, and as it stands now, the people are tired of mediocrity, complacency and deluded transformations. Change may be all they want now!

If by fate the country and the people decide to keep you in office beyond May 29th, 2015, which I and you know that as it stands now, it looks pretty difficult, then lucky you once again. But if by the same fate, the outcome of the election does not favour you, lucky you still. However, if the latter happens, in the name of God I plead with you, please go peacefully and don`t cause any further harm.

Even though you have repeatedly said that you will hand over if you lose. But you know what Mr. President; your words can no longer be trusted. You have said so many things in the past which you didn’t fulfill.

Once again, when you lose in the upcoming elections, as that looks certain, in the name of God, I plead with you, please leave peacefully and cause no further harm.

God Bless Nigeria
