BREAKING: Pastor Ize-Yamu wins Edo PDP governorship primary

Pastor Osagie Ize-Yamu has been elected as the standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 10 governorship election in Edo state.

Three aspirants contested the primary election, which held on Monday, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin‎.

Ize-Iyamu; a former member of the state House of Assembly defeated Matthew Iduoriyekemwen; and the candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party in the 2012 governorship election, Solomon Edebiri.

740 delegates drawn from the 192 wards in Edo state, voted in the primary election.

The votes were counted by a committee led by the candidate of the PDP in the 2015 governorship election in Lagos State, Jimmy Agbaje.

Ize-Iyamu will face the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Godwin Obaseki.
