Is the PDP so broke that it can’t pay ‘cleaners’ salaries?

After being defeated at the presidential election and losing control of the National Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party appears to be suffering on various fronts.

From reeling in the agony of the defection of several of its top members, the party is now faced with the stark reality that it’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, has become a shadow of itself.

The reason for this is the inability of the party to pay almost 4 months salary arrears to workers and cleaners entrusted with the maintenance of its headquarters.

This has forced the workers to embark on indefinite strike over the unpaid salaries and as such, the offices, toilets, board room and other rooms have been in a state of filth for days.

It is believed that a private company, Sabobak Kleen & Associates, which was contracted for the cleaning of the secretariat was being owed arrears and consequently, could not afford to pay its workers.

Due to a combination of the unkempt state of the secretariat and President Jonathan’s loss, visitors and party members have reportedly deserted the once-thriving headquarters of the PDP.
