PDP chieftain yearns to return stolen funds, seeks soft landing from VP Osinbajo

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Wale Oladipo, has written to Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo asking for an opportunity to return the N75 million he received from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The PDP scribe appealed to the Vice President to exclude him from any criminal prosecution in exchange for returning the said money.

The letter to the Vice President was confirmed in a suit filed by Oladipo at a Federal High Court, Abuja, through his lawyer Babs Akinwumi.

The suit is seeking to stop the attorney general of the federation (AGF), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), the inspector general of Police (IGP) and the Department of State Services (DSS), from arresting, prosecuting and detaining him.

The legal affidavit also disclosed that Oladipo had written to the Vice President over his intention to return the said money, noting that he had no idea that the money was being unlawfully appropriated.

He further claimed that the state agents were being used by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to harass and intimate him because he is a prominent member of the opposition party.

However, the ICPC, EFCC and AGF have faulted his claims, saying that a letter to the Vice President cannot stop investigation and possible prosecution.
