Throwing stones: @PDPNigeria is using religion to divide Nigeria || @APCNigeria is a disorganized party

As election season nears, the major political parties have begun to dish out verbal attacks and criticism at each other, case in point, ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress.

The latest in the series of verbal chaste came on Wednesday, 29 October, from John Oyegun, National Chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, who stated that the PDP is using religion to divide the people of Nigeria.

Oyeagun made the comments at the extra-ordinary non elective national convention of the party held at the Old Parade Ground, Abuja, Oyegun.

He said, “In particular, the use of religion to divide our people portends great danger. No nation has ever developed using religion as a divisive or campaign tool. And ours will not be different. The problems we face, be it insecurity, corruption, poverty, lack of infrastructure or economic growth without development, will not be solved by a religionist but by patriotic and competent leadership.”

“What our long-suffering people want to know is who will provide them with security, improved welfare, uninterrupted power supply, jobs, modern health care, world class education and modern infrastructure, just to name a few.”

Furthermore, he said, “Now, the only reason the PDP has resorted to dangerous, divisive politics is because they have nothing to showcase to Nigerians to convince them to return the PDP to power at the centre come next year.”

As if on cue, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh released a statement on the same day, where he criticised and lambasted the major opposition party over their extra ordinary convention, which he labelled as “a charade and an exercise designed to mask their inadequacies and paper over the numerous cracks that are obvious for all to see.”

Metuh said, “APC as a disorganized political party, lacking the ability to effectively administer itself” and wondered how it can govern a nation as complex as Nigeria.”

The National Publicity Secretary also mocked the APC, calling them “strange bed fellows and enemies of democracy.”

“In APC, Nigerians have continued to witness a rickety, wobbly vehicle bound to jerk to a stop midway, abandoning the occupants to the mercy of inclement elements. Of course, Nigerians have noted that the PDP remains the only steady and stable platform for the growth and progress of democracy in our dear country,” he added.

  1. Yes nigeria needs change, as Change is the only constant thing. APC is not the change we need. Their existence is to make the PDP a better party and not to take over power! They look more incompetent to rule.

  2. I think nigeria need a change
