PDP says Ambode spent N3.2bn on Buhari’s no-show

Lagos state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode of spending N3.2billion in preparing for the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari fraudulently.

Buhari was supposed to arrive  Lagos on a 2-day working visit on Monday but he at the at the last minute canceled and delegated the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to represent him instead.

In a statement issued by its publicity secretary, Taofiq Gani, the PDP has tagged the visit as “a fraud and another expose that the APC is too haphazard in governance, hence the total disconnect between the state governor and the Presidency, thereby causing the state not to know that the president had changed his mind on visiting the state.”

The party further charged Ambode to account for over N3.2 billion claimed to have been spent on the no-show of President Buhari.

The party also noted that it was a monumental mismanagement of public funds, misplacement of priority and sheer propanganda to call the president to “to commission ordinary rehabilitation of roads, which are not even more than seven in a state with 245 Wards.”

The party said, “We demand that the over N3.2bn claimed to have been spent to welcome the president to Lagos must be accounted for. The beneficiaries of the contracts and the costs of the contracts involved in the ceremonies must be made public for Lagosians to know.

“This is needless waste of public funds.”
