PDP will rule Lagos for 16 years – Jimi Agbaje

by Kolapo Olapoju

Jimi Agbaje, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that his party would rule Lagos State for 16 uninterrupted years.

He made the comments while addressing party delegates from Lagos East Senatorial district on Monday, 24 November, at Maryland, Lagos.

Agbaje promised that the PDP would uspet the All Progressives Congress at the next election in the state, while urging party members to ensure PDP’s victory in the gubernatorial polls so that Mr Sikiru Ogboye, a PDP agent, who was shot dead earlier this month, did not die in vain.

Ogboye was shot dead, allegedly on the orders of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while monitoring the Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) distribution exercise on 9 November.

Two APC chieftains, governorship aspirant, Dr Tola Kasali, and a Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor, Alhaji Muslim Tele Folami, are currently facing murder charges for the killing.

At the meeting, Agbaje called for a minute’s silence for the deceased PDP agent, while also predicting that the ruling party would take power from APC at the upcoming election in 2015.

Agbaje stated: “When PDP secures power in Lagos, it won’t be for four years, eight years, and not even 16 years. This is because PDP has come to reorganise Lagos and develop it to world standard.”

“We will solve the current transportation problems in Ikorodu. Epe has perennial power challenges, and the current Lagos government has given up, riding on the excuse that electricity is on the exclusive list. Even then, we shall facilitate electricity supply to that place by inviting rapid government intervention.”

“As delegates, you own the party. If you select someone unsuitable and overbearing, he will simply take the party from you and exclude you from making inputs into the government.”
