Many members of the Board of Trustees, National Caucus and several others refused to attend the National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party which was held in Abuja, on Thursday,
The PDP chieftains were reportedly incensed by the decision of the national leadership of the party to hold NEC meeting without following due process.
Over the years, the NEC meeting of the PDP was usually held after both the BoT and the National Caucus of the party must have met, but this time around, the National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, was said to have refused to call for the meetings of the two organs of the party before calling for the NEC meeting.
The zoning committee, headed by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, recommended that the next national chairman of the party should come from the North-East, a zone which Sheriff is from.
