@PDPNigeria Chairmanship: “We don’t need this” – @Muazuaa tells Tukur to take a chill pill

by Laila Ibrahim

Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that the resignation of the former National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, was proper and in line with the constitution of the party.

Tukur had recently filed a suit challenging his ouster as Chairman of the ruling party, arguing that his resignation was not voluntary.

Mua’zu revealed on Thursday, 20 November, that at this point in the political situation of the party and the country, it was unnecessary to waste time debating over the issue of resignation when the party was currently preparing for the 2015 general elections.

Mua’zu said: “Our presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan has just declared for his re-election next year, all hands should be on the deck as we should collectively work together as members of PDP, as one happy family to ensure victory for the president and all the PDP gubernatorial candidates that will be produced at the December 8 primary elections.”

Meanwhile, the supposed letter of resignation by Bamanga Tukur dated January 15, 2014, has surfaced. The letter which was addressed to the National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo was titled, “Resignation as the National Chairman.”

The letter reads: “Pursuit to Article 45(2) of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), I hereby give notice of my resignation as the National Chairman with effect from Thursday, January 16, 2014.”

“My resignation is in the overall interest of the party. I remain available to offer my contributions accordingly to the party, whenever it is needed. Thank you and please accept the assurances of my highest esteem always.”

  1. Muazu, let the court decide on the case at hand. The judge will listen to all sides and take an informed decision. May be the pill you recommended could help assuage your nerves too. Who knows, it may be a long walk after all.
