A pregnant woman, Mrs. Mercy Chintua, was arrested by the police in Enugu for pouring hot water on a neighbour, but in her defence, she clams that the man, Emmanuel Anyebe, was peeping at her while she was having her bath.
The incident happened on February 23 at Akwuke, Awkunanaw in Enugu.
While giving her account to the police, Chintua said, “On that fateful day, as I was taking my bath, Anyebe peeped at on me while trying to gain access into the bathroom, and in the process, saw my nakedness.”
Anyebe reportedly lost consciousness as a result of the pain, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
However, he denied peeping on the woman.
He said, “It all happened as I wanted to enter the bathroom to take my bath, only to be stopped by Chintua, who wanted to take her bath first. I simply left after Chintua rushed into the bathroom to take her bath before I could do same.”
Anyebe said he went to the woman’s husband to complain about her action, and afterwards went back to the bathroom to have his bath when she was done.
But while having his bath, Chintua poured the hot water on him.
The Police spokesperson of Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, said Chintua blamed her action on the devil.
He said, “The suspect is with us and has been helping the police in the investigations into the incident.”
