Pep Guardiola says ‘Yaya Toure is a huge talent’, speaks on rivalry with Mourinho

Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola moments ago held his first press conference as manager of the English side.

The 45-year-old was confirmed as the club’s manager in February on a three-year deal that will earn him over £15m per year, after Manuel Pellegrini announced he is leaving.

When asked about Yaya Toure, he had this to say;

“I know Yaya for a long time. He did very well in Barcelona and here as well, so he is a huge talent.

“All the players that are here right now count on me so after that we see what will happen in the future, not just for Yaya but for the other players.

He also wants to keep Kompany at the club even though the captain has not played much recently.

“My dream for Vincent Kompany is to be fit. Especially in the last two years he played not too many games.

“The captain has a lot of experience, he is a magnificent central defender but he has to be fit. I spoke with him to say just focus on your body.

“Forget about the other things, just focus to recover and come back where you were in the past. After that, Vincent will decide for himself but we are sure of his quality.”

On his biggest rival Mourinho, he had this to say;

“We’re both here, Jose and I. He wants to win, I want to win. We know each other pretty well.”
