Pharmaceutical society to donate N50m drugs to IDPs

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria has said it will donate drugs worth N50m to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country.

President of the society, Ahmed Yakasi disclosed this on Friday while speaking in Minna, Niger State, at the 89th annual national conference of the PSN themed ‘Pharmaceutical industry contributions to national development.’

Yakasi said the gesture was in continuation of donations of cloths and food worth N50m in 2015 by the society.

He also urged pharmacists to embrace technology in their practice in this era of digitalization.

He said, “We now co-exist and practise pharmacy in a society where digitisation is changing behaviours, business models, consumer expectations and everything – in real terms.

“This digital disruption is existentially powerful and it is having major impact across all professional sectors. Our choice therefore is either to embrace it and maximise it for pharmaceutical practice and business or we can remain scared by it.”
