Photo of the Day: Aaron Ramsey, the harbinger of famous deaths?

by Daniel Essien

Arsenal’s midfielder Aaron Ramsey, has done well this season to step in the big shoes Cesc Fabregas left, after he moved to Barcelona last summer. Although he is almost an automatic selection in a midfield triumvirate with Alex Song and Mikel Arteta, he hardly scores.

Maybe he shouldn’t be scoring a lot – a famous name dies every time the Welsh captain finds the back of the net. Last May, he marked his return from a horrible leg break, by scoring the winner against Manchester United in a Premier League game that was played at the Emirates. The next day, Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces in Pakistan.

In October, he scored twice. He netted the equaliser against fierce North London rivals Spurs, and four days later, Apple CEO Steve Jobs died. On October 19, he came off the bench to score the winner against Ligue 1 side, Marseille. The next day, Muhammad Gaddafi was executed by rebel forces in Libya.

Just last weekend, he also came off the bench and levelled scores in Arsenal’s away game against Sunderland. The next day, Whitney Houston was discovered dead in her Beverly Hills hotel.

One really has to wonder what will happen when Ramsey scores a brace or even a hatrick!
