The Nigerian Music Video Awards took place last Saturday at the Eko Hotel. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Celebrating our cultural heritage’ .

The event was compered by former Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria cum musician, Munachi Abi and comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka the first, who made sure guests didn’t stop laughing. Soul crooners, Darey and Jodie emerged the biggest winners of the night receiving the most awards.

The fun started on the green carpet with the A list. One person who definitely caused a stir when he stepped on it, was Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy. The self-titled ‘Area Fada’ came hand in hand with two ladies, who were dressed unusually or shall we say, ‘Gaga-ly?’ Both of them were skimpily clad and accessorised with masks, leggings and boots. One of them even wore a tie and carried a skull.

Charly Boy is no stranger to controversies. Last year, a picture of him and TV presenter, Denrele Edun kissing found its way into public domain. As Nigerian Idol judge, he was also photographed cuddling a big snake at one of the auditions. Could this be the last of his publicity stunts this year?
