The founder of Every Nigerian Do Something (ENDS) and writer, Dr. Peregrino Brimah has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to release Zeenat Zakzaky, wife of detained Shi’ites leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky.

In a statement on Monday, Brimah said Zeenat has been detained without charges for almost a year.

He also said Zeenat was shot several times when soldiers raided their home.

He wrote, “I don’t know what Zeenat Zakzaky may have done to hurt president Muhammadu Buhari’s feelings. Whatever it is, I plead with the President of Nigeria… I am literally and physically on my knees. Please free Zeenat.

“It will soon be a year that Zeenat Zakzaky has been detained without charge. Please do not allow her mark a year in detention. Zeenat is a Nigerian mother of Yoruba ethnicity who has lost six of her male children. She lost three boys under Jonathan and three more under Buhari last December. What punishment can be greater?

“Zeenat has not been able to visit the graves of her killed sons. She has not been able to comfort and be comforted by her two daughters. Zeenat even missed the recent marriage of her last remaining son. What punishment can be worse?

“She survived several gun shots to her body when the Army raided her home. She watched her husband shot six times as she also watched her sons killed. She has been beside her husband in detention watching him lose his eyesight and get paralyzed without proper medical attention. What punishment can be worse.

“Dear President Muhammadu Buhari, please look inside to your compassionate side. Answer to God’s call for justice and be merciful as you would wish God is to you. Feel your heart and free this mother.”
