PODCAST: ‘Oga Police IG should lie with wisdom please…’ + more on The Slab with Isime

Chuks, Tolu, and Elsie – who is representing Emeka this week – join The Slab with Isime to talk about the Nigerian Police IG, Ibrahim Idris’ Al-Jazeera interview; Borno governor’s leadership moves in the North East; and militants threatening to attack oil facilities if Patience Jonathan is prosecuted by the EFCC.

The Police IG had claimed that the police do not engage in torture in the course of carrying out their duties.

“The Nigeria Police Force in its entirety condemns every element of torture in the conduct of police operation in this country. And we have units on the ground to check some of these excesses,” he said while reacting to a damning report by the Amnesty International and the UK Independent on the operation of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). “Nigeria Police Force has never been involved in any element of torture in all its activities in the cause of their investigation all over the country.”

Reacting to this statement, The Slab crew member, Chuks had this to say: “From reactions, you know that everybody just said this man is either delusional or he doesn’t just know what he’s talking about, or he’s just a fat-faced liar. Because there’s nobody in Nigeria… immediately you talk about the Nigerian police, and SARS for that matter, what comes to your mind is terror – the way they terrorize innocent Nigerians.”
