Police arraign 25-year-old driver over manslaughter in Ogun

25-year-old, Babatunde Abel was arraigned by the Police in Ogun state before an Ota Magistrate’s court in the state on a two-count charge of manslaughter and reckless driving.

Narrating the incident to the court, the police  prosecutor, Insp. Olajide Michael, said the accused committed the offence on Dec. 18 at 11.00 p.m. at Love Bus Stop, Iju, in Ota.

According to the prosecutor, the accused drove an unregistered  Volkswagen Passat car recklessly and killed a 25-year-old man, Rasheed Ogunbiyi.

Premium Times reports:

 He said the offences contravene Sections 5, 7 and 135 of the Federal Highway Acts, Cap 135 of the revised laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody, while the case was adjourned to Dec. 27 for consideration of bail.
